St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Catskill was founded in 1801. Our parish history is interwoven with the history of the community. Among other historic figures the famous landscape painter, Thomas Cole, was a member of the parish.
The Episcopal Church is part of the world wide Anglican Communion which has over 70 million members around the world.
Tradition
We combine elements of Protestant and Catholic worship. With many Protestant churches, we share an emphasis on the Bible as the Word of God, but we also share an emphasis on an encounter with the living God in the sacraments of the church. We believe in the real presence of Christ in the Holy Communion.
Worship Services
Our goal is to worship God in the beauty of holiness. Our services are quiet and reverent yet full of the warmth of genuine Christian fellowship. Holy Communion is celebrated everyday in the chapel and is the main service on Sunday Morning. Our 7:30 am Sunday service is a said service with a homily(short message) and Holy Communion. The 10:00 am service has a homily, hymns, Holy Communion and is accompanied by a pipe organ and cantor.

We have an adult choir that sings at the 10:00 am Sunday service. New members of all skill levels welcome. Please contact our Music Director, Alison Davy, at (518) 943-4180 if you'd like to join us or want more information.
Teaching
There is Christian Education for adults at 8:45 am on Sunday morning from September through June between the 7:30 am and 10:00 am services. There is coffee and fellowship in the upper parish hall after each service.
Outreach
We actively engage in good works in our community and support the Catskill Food Pantry which is located at St. Luke's.
St. Luke the Evangelist is the patron saint of our parish. He is the author of the Gospel according to St. Luke. He was a physician and the companion of St. Paul, the Apostle. He is known as the patron of the sick, physicians and nurses and those who work in the healing professions and of artists. St. Luke is also known for his complete and systematic presentation of the Christian faith. As part of our parish mission we seek to be a place of healing prayer and to find ways to bless those who work in health care and artists. We also place an emphasis on Christian Education.
